Max’s Story

The Max Catering Story

Mitchell Frieder, Max Catering’s founder, created Downtown Bistro in Lancaster in 1989. Mark DePompa, Antelope Valley Country Club’s former manager, and a man known for paying extraordinary attention to detail, dined daily at Downtown Bistro for more than a year to be sure that he was choosing the right caterer before offering Mitchell the caterer’s spot. Max Catering moved to the Antelope Valley Country Club in 1999 and has been happily serving AVCC members, and our wedding and event hosts and guests ever since.

No matter how unusual our guests’ requests might be, our thoroughly-trained and highly-experienced chefs and catering staff always try to find a way to make things happen for our guests. At the same time, it’s critical that we present everything on schedule, with great flavors, all at the right temperature.

When someone comes to us for a wedding, that party is very important to them. We’re going to do everything in our power to please them, to make sure that the event goes off without a hitch. We watch for guests who are happy and complimenting their hosts at the end of the event. That’s how we know we’ve done a good job.

Downtown Bistro (formerly Cakes & Co.), and its catering branch, Max Catering was opened in Downtown Lancaster by Mitchell Frieder in 1989. The Los Angeles Times voted the restaurant to be the 5th best in the Los Angeles Valley Region’s Top-20 Restaurants. With our move to the AVCC providing a spacious banquet facility, our guests return again and again for all their special occasions and remain part of the “Max Catering Family”. We are honored to be trusted to help you with your most cherished events.
